Thom,

I do store pdf, jpg, doc, and other blobs in my database. I have a document
scanning management system, and we currently have over 60,000 documents stored
in R:base. I do move them out of the primary database into database just for
these blobs. I put about 5,000 documents into a database keeping it under 600
megs (so I can archive it to CD). It is much easier to keep tack of 4 files
w/ 5,000 images than it is to keep track of 5,000 files. Also, I know once
these files are stored in the database, they are not going to get lost,
corrupted, or deleted.
