Who is this guy ? A shill for Microsoft ? He's got to be the most naive guy
on the planet. I suggest that he get informed fast or he'll be surfer dude
real soon.

If he doesn't contribute something intellegent to this list instead of
pumping up Microsoft and spouting drivel about Cookies, he should find
something better to do with his time, like soap box derby racing.

Could you please explain to me another reason to be in business other than
to be "profit minded"? Are you out there doing all of your RBase work for
charity? If so, I salute you as you are a better man than I.

Explorer, Media Player, etc etc etc are all FREE FREE FREE. How can
upgrading them line the pockets of MS. If anything, they're spending
valuable development dollars to offer a free product to someone who is
ungreatful and doesn't recognize the contribution Microsoft has made to the
entire computing industry.

You say "the Microsoft bandwagon". Well, you yourself are riding a
bandwagon called "the Microsoft hater bandwagon"

Remember that RBase runs on Microsoft's operating systems...

Occasionally MS comes up with something that works well enough(although I'm
hard put to think of more than one or two examples). My complaint is,
Bill, being profit-minded above all else, has to continually "upgrade" the
software such that the user is required to perpetually line the pockets of
MS if he wishes to continue using it, whether he needs the "upgrade" or
not. And I resent being badgered continually to upgrade Explorer, Windows
Media Player, etc., etc. on ad infinitum every time I open a program. I
imagine it's the same case with VB--they'd like you to believe that if you
don't upgrade to their vision of the future, you'll get left behind. I
say, if they can't offer something that's truly worthwhile, quit buggin' me!

Incidentally, the VB vs R:Base discussion has arisen quite a number of
times on this list; I have yet to hear any compelling examples of anything
VB can do for my business that can't be developed with R:Base quicker and
faster, other than some pretty graphics.

If you enjoy riding the MS bandwagon, try taking a look sometime in your
Cookies folder in Windows; then try to get rid of the mass of information
that they are gathering about you there. They aren't massing that
information just for the fun of it. Who would have thought 20 years ago
that "Big Brother" would turn out to be Bill instead of some gov't agency?

Just my 2 cents

RJ
