"keep getting an
error message that says the Rbase.msg file is wrong....."
This makes me think
that you have the wrong Rbase.CFG file on your path, or remnants of the Rbase
4.0 program files on your path.
Check to make sure
that the first Rbase.CFG file you have is the one for your current Rbase
program.
Also, did you
install Rbase to the same directory as the old program? Are the two mixed
together? if so, you might want to re-linstall
it to a fresh
directory, and make that directory the first thing in your path
statement.
Another
possibility: is this database on a network, and is some user still using
4.0, which might put an Rbase.CFG file for 4.0 in the data directory? that would
be not very good, and could cause your problem. All users should be upgraded to
the same version of Rbase if they are
sharing databases.

"batch file captures
the printing on startup"
You should
test this outside of Rbase, by going to a
dos prompt, and printing some little text file, like
so:
TYPE
filename.txt > LPT1
where
filename.txt is a small text file that is in your current
directory.
If that hangs, then
it's nothing in Rbase, it's the capture of the printer that is wrong, and you
can re-look at that.
