A telephone book style report is not just a report in two or three
columns. It is a report that has an alphabetical list down the left
column, continued in the middle column.

R:Base's band-oriented report writer makes that very difficult, since it
advances down the page after a row of data. There are basically three
ways I have seen this done:

1) Create a report table, into which you insert data for the left report
column, then update rows for the second and third columns

2) use "pagemode" and "draw" the whole page yourself

3) Create an html document, and don't display it in R:Base, but in a
browser.

I'll be giving examples of the third approach in my presentation at the
conference, with a phone-book style report as one of the specific
examples.
