I use this type of report in DOS for charge sheets, order forms, etc.  One
needs a monospaced font for it to work.  Haven't had the time to experiment
with Windows on this yet, but have placed a request a long time ago to
RDCC.    Found the code in an old exchange article (still looking for the
original code) but this creates a variable on each line the length of the
line, and puts 2,3 or more columns on the line.  there is a routine to
process and update a column to place things in order.  This is called
"snaking columns" as i understand it.  Labels only go across.  Snaking
columns go up and down, continuing at the top of the next column, and with
a little tinkering you can do a lot.  I use text and bar codes in my
report.

let me know if you want me to hunt down the code from the exchange....I
might have a copy of MY sloppy code with explanations around somewhere...I
sent it to another list server member (it must have driven him to the
asylum) but I probably saved it...
