The problem, Troy, is that I do not have Oterro on the system at all (using
the R:Base limited ODBC driver) , so mismatched settings cannot be the
issue.

An interesting thing is that I connected to the R:Base database using ODBC
with a neat little program called "Cute DB Explorer" and was able to read
everything - table structures, data in the tables, etc. Whereas some other
types of software using ODBC bombs out of the connect with a "Driver not
known to this system" error message. Possible issues with the ODBC
compatibility of the R:Base limited ODBC driver?
