Using The Glorious R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++), Build:1.851xRT03 or
higher for Windows, you can customize the background and foreground
colors of any column(s) by using SET LAYOUT ON option.
The default LAYOUT is SET to OFF in RBASE.CFG.
To customize the BROWSER settings, use the following steps:
01. Launch The Glorious R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++) for Windows.
02. At the mighty R> prompt, type:
CONNECT Concomp IDENTIFIED BY None
SET LAYOUT ON
03. BROWSE * FROM Customer
Leave the cursor at the first column, CustID
04. Click on "Layout" option from the menu bar and then select
"Change Column Color..."
05. Click on "Set Background Color ...'" button
Click on Radio Button for "Blue" and then click on [OK]
06. Click on "Set Text Color ..." button
Click on Radio Button for "Yellow" and then click on [OK]
07. Click [OK] to save Colors Settings
08. At the R> prompt:
BROWSE * FROM Customer
CustID, the first column, will be displayed with Blue as the
Background with Yellow text.
09. Now, let's create a command file to use that BROWSER
setting for Customer table.
10. RBEdit LetsSee.RMD
CLS
SET LAYOUT ON
BROWSE * FROM Customer
RETURN
Save the file.
11. RUN LetsSee.RMD
You should be able to see the same settings as in step 08.
Notes:
01. To set table layout, you must SET LAYOUT ON before using:
BROWSE/EDIT * FROM TableName.
02. To display only a few columns from the entire table, you must
use BROWSE/EDIT * FROM TableName and then squeeze the
column(s) to the left over the column(s) you don't want to display.
03. To set default LAYOUT to ON, either update your application
startup file or RBASE.CFG
04. When LAYOUT is set OFF, R:BASE does not save the table
layout of data and ignores any saved layouts. If you want to see
a table displayed in its default format without changing the saved
layout for it, SET LAYOUT OFF before displaying the table.
05. Table LAYOUT settings using Object Manager are set for
Object Manager only.
06. Table LAYOUT settings used at the R> prompt can be used at
R> prompt and command files.
