Are you saying that you NEED to have the SET LAYOUT ON statement immediately
before the BROWSE or EDIT command in a command file _every time_?

If so, it solves the problem but creates another! The new problem is
amending every command file that contains EDIT/BROWSE from the browser!!

Further, if there are different layouts saved from the Object Manager and
the R:> then please can you say when this changed? The R:Syntax entry for
SET LAYOUT does NOT mention it!
