A light pen or scanner, which hooks into a wedge, goes in 
through the same input port as your keyboard. It works the same 
as if you typed it. If you are talking about a handheld unit, 
then you will need to upload the handheld data into your data 
base. (There are RF/wireless options too.)

We like the wedge option because we can validate the input and 
prompt the user in realtime.
