I am doing a long overdue conversion from old 2.11 to 6.5++ (DOS version, I
will do the win version as step 2 when 7.0 is here I belive)

I have experienced some strange behaviour with corrupted value of LINEEND
and IDQUOTES.

So now in startupfile I set now also LINEEND and IDQUTES to what is in the
CFG file. I have no clue what cause the corruption. Sometimes I have
suspected data transfer from 2.11 but since I unload and load as ascii
nowdays to get away from the setting lines in after a normal unload. Anyway
IDQUOTES seam to go to NULL and LINEND I can not tell it display like an
hapayface ON and if I check with cval function it is actually (char(254))
what is supposed to be but it does display correctly

1 Can someone explain what implication are of
corrupted LINEEND and IDQUOTES so I maybe can understand the strange
behaviour

2. The DOS version default I belive is (char(254)) and (char(94)) in WIN
version for Lineend. Will it be any implication of to go for the windows
version in DOS as well? It would be easier since I can find ^ on the
keyboard but not ■.

The strange behaviour is in a year end routine where I do a lot of deletes
from many tables. Then out of nowhere the R:BASE crashes out halfway
through the execution of my rmd file. When I trace the file it is not
consistent where it crashes the only things it is always on a delete command
or update command

Is this rather a memory problem in my XP and has nothing to do with
corrupted settings which happenes to be my believe for today, yesterday I
suspected the LINEEND so I still keep the setting in my startupfile (better
safe then sorry)

By the way I have got the rmdfile to actually work now but I still dont
understand this . In the 12 year old 2.11 version of the file I did a reload
when I was finished. Now in 6.5++ I do a pack;disconnect;connect after every
delete row command, that seems to prevent the R:BASE from crashing out. I
will do some testing by creating temporay tables with rows I want to keep
and rather do a drop table instead of delete row and recreate the table from
the temp table.

Can anyone shed some light on this ? I do not like when I don’t understand
what is going on and this is so weird hardly dare to ask the question!
