Try using 7.0 driver.
Pending in what version you first installed the 7.X and it ODBC you
driver might be called:
SCONNECT ';driver=RBASE 7.0 Database Driver
(*.rb1);dbq=C:\rbti\rbg7\calman\certs\certs'

On my system the driver is named like that even if honestly belive that
the driver is actually 7.1. To bes sure check contralpanel setting for
the name of the driver

Bernie,

Just a follow on question? I am trying to figure this SCONNECT out also.

I have tried to set up a DSN but either I am just to dense to understand
the
process
or I am missing something.

If I just type SCONNECT at the R: prompt I am given a bunch of options.
>From there it goes down hill. No matter what I have tried I get some
sort of
error message.

I have even pasted the following command from the help file to the R
prompt;

SCONNECT ';driver=RBASE 7.1 Database Driver
(*.rb1);dbq=C:\rbti\rbg7\calman\certs\certs'

This gives me the error
[Microsoft] [ODBC Device Manager] Data source name not found and no
default
driver specified

I am using 7.1.77.30908.

Any ideas?

Jan
