Joel,
I have Rbase 7.1 Windows running on a 2000 server and have no problems
with speed at all.  I have a mixture of a couple of sessions connected via Terminal Services, a couple of sessions connected via LAN and a couple of sessions connected via Oterro.  Speed does not change with one or all so far!  I have ordered the compiler and will soon be putting several more users on line and foresee no problems.

So the issue must be with something other than Rbase as long as your scratch files are set to the local PC.  (Even then you probably would not see a huge difference unless you were doing very large dataset sorts etc.)

One simple test you could do is copy a large data file from the server to your work station and time it.  (Use one very large data file versus many small ones.  It should be 100 MB +  or more)  Then do the same copy routine on the same file using two or three work stations at the same time.  If you see a large decrease in speed, it definitely is something in your network.

I have on occasion, seen an overall degradation in server speed (all programs, not just Rbase) and a reboot of the server clears the issue.  I try to reboot our server on occasion when it is convenient and it seems to keep that problem away.

Good luck.
