Despite the best intentions of the PO, I found my package from Compass in
the package locker just now -- deliveryperson had apparently left the key
in someone else's box, who opened the locker and was (1) honest enough not
to steal the contents but (2) dumb enough to leave the filled locker open
to the public. Anyway, Deo gratias, contents were safe and the were,
seriatim:

1 package from Compass with an early pair of the new Elk Pass;

1 Tonyon lock as blogged by Dave Moulton.

The tires -- what can I say? Made by Panracer, but paper thin -- they make
the Parigi Roubaix look like thick cardboard.

One hundred and seventy grams with rubber band on my Pelouze! Six ethereal
ounces!

Tomorrow, God willing, I will pick up the (Riv content '99 Joe gofast)
wheels that I had rebuilt from 650C -- I paid the $35 rush fee for 2 day
delivery. Hell, I should have tried to build them myself, except it would
have taken longer to get the Revolutions -- yes, with alloy nipples. (This
will be a super super super light wheelset; no dish to compromise things.

The tires will ineluctably require sealant, but that's no big deal when
they are fully 14 grams lighter even than 650C X 23 Michelin PR 4s. The
re-used, cleaned up 559 Sun M14A rims weigh ~380 compared to the very
similar but eyeletted 650C ME14As' 425 grams. That's a 60 gram/2 oz weight
saving over an already very light wheel; and this promises much better
comfort and much less anxiety about our common 4"+ pavement expansion
cracks.

The Tonyon lock weighs 1 3/4 lb and has not the appearance, at least, of
Kryptonite's quality, but for the price it's worth a try. It is certainly
compact.

Hopefully I'll get at least a quick ride on the Elks tomorrow; having been
riding Pro Race 3s on the gofast, I will be very eager to learn the
difference with the Elks.
