I'm kinda a clipless person for road riding and mountain biking but will be throwing thin gripsters on the Atlantis. I don't know if my pedal stroke is smooth and efficient or not (and I would bet on not) but I find the shoes for clipless that I have are excellent. I think clipless gives an advantage with the riding I do with both the road bike and the mountain bike, which is generally fast riding where I'm trying to keep up with people in better shape than myself.
