Hi Cecily,

Yay on riding your bike again! I know that feeling well!

I haven't ridden much in the winter (and late fall), so when I went back to
riding, I was definitely a bit saddle sore. But my recovery was like 1-2
days, provided I kept on riding everyday. Like you, most of my riding is
short- anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to my destination.

However, I don't know if this would be helpful or not, but I have generally
found Brooks women's saddles to be more uncomfortable than men's saddles. I
can barely tolerate Brooks women's B17 but am very comfortable in a men's
B17 (my favorite saddle). I can tolerate women's B67 but I have to remember
to keep the nose up or I slide off it. Brooks Flyer in men's size is
another okay-ish saddle for me- not as comfortable as men's B17, but
definitely far more preferable than women's. I suspect it may be a YMMV
thing, and there's probably a lot other factors going on (for example, the
women's saddles were probably not broken in, but the men's were).

And if it helps here's the saddle/tire/bike combo:
men's B17 // nomad resist 700 x 45 // AHH
women's B67 // hetres 650b // custom mixte
men's Flyer // panaracer pasela 700 x 32 // Quickbeam

All on Albatross bars and relatively similar saddle height.

Also, my pain tolerance is crazily high, so you might not want to listen to
me. I was riding uncomfortably on that women's B17 with the worst handlebar
position ever (lots of stress on wrists) for about 17 miles in 97%
humidity. On the other hand, I did get to ride on the tandem again as a
stoker in the cool summer night, under the stars, so it was worth every
mile and ouchie, but...

-E.
