The granny is steel & is the original one Riv put on in '03 when I bought the bike. I'm in a dry climate & don't bother replacing rings until seriously worn (but not troublesome), so my mileage may be at the upper end of common. Perhaps someone from a more aggressive climate could comment but IMHO rings ought to last at least 10,000 miles.
