Exactly. I converted my '97 Road Standard as well. Since those bikes were designed for 622 x 28 under short-reach calipers (like the RB-1), long-reach calipers have the correct reach for 650b (584) wheels. I used R559/Silver calipers for a while, but changed them out for Paul Racer centerpulls for better fender clearance.

Now, it fits 584 x 38 tires and 45 mm metal fenders. The chainstays and fork legs are tight enough that a 584 x 42 will rub.
