Update: No lubing or height adjustment or turning of FD allows clearance of the chain. Better, but still rubs a little.
So I took the FD off and will ride without it until the SunXCD double arrives. Forumite says it also works good as a triple. So sounds like it has enough spread. It will do 16T I think. If that doesn't work, the I might switch FD's with my Bleriot as the Bleriot derailer moves in 1/2cm more than the Deore. But hopefully the XCD will work. Went riding today without the FD and it was really nice!!! The cassette gearing works for me in my terrain. The rear cassette works great on the Rambouillet with the rear derailer. I even considered not using a FD anymore. I think I could drop the chain to the inner ring if I need it with my shoe while riding.
