Hey Eric,

I’ll counterpoint and say it is worth experimenting with gearing, but also 
point out that you can, with wide range flip-flop hub freewheel/cogs and two 
same or even wider ranged chain rings (so long as the total tooth difference is 
6 or so, I know it is technically 8, but that can make 38s snug). Then you only 
run the big cog with the little chain ring and the little cog with the big 
chain ring. Two wide ranging gears. Simplicity of the original bike. Best of 
all possible worlds. Grin.
