Leah:

This is February. Imagine that bike path in the summer. Add in kids out
of school, headed to the water with surfboards, boogie boards, coolers,
etc. On weekends families use the bike path as a "staging area" for their
beach camping gear. Giant coolers, easy ups, tent things, grills, etc.
They like to unload the car onto the bike path, then schlepp everything
down to the sand. :You had a great day, considering we've all been cooped
up it-seems-forever by cold & rain. Let the sun peak out for a few hours &
we're out the door.

BTW, if you do an Orange County trip in the future, Pedego has stores in
Irvine & Newport. The Irvine one is conveniently located on the San Diego
Creek bike trail, which will take you down to the Newport Back Bay.
