David It will be a fairly true to form Riv build.
Dirt Drop Stem, 46cm noodles S-83 seatpost Black B-17 standard Ritchey Logic (sugino) 94/58 triple cranks (172.5) Not sure if I'll go 22/32/42, or 22/34/46 or maybe even 2x8 it with a 29 or 30 with a 44 or 46. I have all the rings. I might try them all eventually. Grip King pedals (or some 747's) Whichever Front der will work, I have a Sram a Suntour and a Campy. Depends in part on my ring decisions. Late 90s XTR rear derailleur and cassette I got some old Black Suntour retro friction downtube shifters and barcon adapters. Japanese XT hubs 32h Synergy Rims. I'll build the wheels. I have Red Hetres, Fatty Rumpkin wire bead, and a set of first run Pari Motos coming whenever they come. Avid Arch Supreme V-Brakes Cane Creek V-levers Paul Interupters Toshi Navy Blue cloth tape, twined amber shellac Two King cages For now the rear rack will be the one that pulls our Burley Piccolo. It's Orange Powdercoat, with dark blue decals, seattube panel, and dark blue filled in on the B in the headbadge. That's why I'm going shellacked navy bar tape. There no lug accent paintwork, though. The parts will have a lot of gunmetal grey (the crankset, the XTR rear der, the Avid brakes) and some black (Saddle, shiftlevers, perhaps the chainrings, the Burley rack). I'm not sure I'll love the V-brakes, but I had them. I also have a set of Paul touring cantilevers and appropriate brakelevers waiting to substitute if needed. The Paul Interupters have a moveable pivot, so I'll use those either way. I live in El Cerrito, and work in South Hayward. I sometimes do the 35 mile ride on the road into the office, and I think I could do about 45% of it on trails. My spring project is to dial in that commute route with as much trail work as possible. The bike will also get used for S24Os with my son this summer. He's 9. I'm thrilled to get started, but I just checked out that the spokes Rich sold me. There's only 30 for the front. Doh!
