If you want to stay local to SF, a nice way to spend a day is to ride west along the marina waterfront (away from the touristy area), explore the Presidio, ride over the Golden Gate Bridge, and have lunch on the water in Sausalito. Then, hop on a ferry back and enjoy the views on your way back to SF.
