And far more on crank design, that is, how much the arms flare. My
XD2, as above, has a 160 mm Q with a 113 mm bb; I ran a Cyclotourist
on a custom 145 mm bb: it had the same Q, 160. The same TA with a 113
bb gives a Q of 130 - 135 mm.

Note, though, that putting a given crank on a wider bb spindle might
make the chainline a bit off -- though where "off" becomes "untenable"
will differ from situation to situation. I salvaged the TA's chainline
with the 145 mm Phil by running the 44 t outer ring in middle position
with a 30 t inner for a wide range double.
