There are report that when the Atlantis is front loaded and goes pass a certain mile/hr, the bike begins to wobble alot. Especially on down hills. I just want to get peoples experience on this. Is it really bad? Can you just brace the bicycle when moving at high speeds? No disrespect to you cyclofiend. Not trying to start a debate but looking for people input.
None taken. But, I still think that if there were repeated, documented incidents of speed wobbles or shimmy (a different topic than what I thought from your initial question about rear loading - shimmy is an oscillation at a specific speed under particular load conditions), they would have appeared in this list and could be found in the archives. We have had some discussion about that, and here's a quick search using "atlantis shimmy" http://tinyurl.com/atlantis-shimmy The cause of speed wobble/shimmy is not well understood, and it gets hashed to death via online forums. A good place to start is here: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/brandt/shimmy.html hope that was more helpful for what you were asking about. - Jim -- Jim Edgar [email protected] "One Cog - Zero Excuses" L/S T-shirt (and others!) - Now available http://www.cyclofiend.com/stuff Cyclofiend Bicycle Photo Galleries - http://www.cyclofiend.com Current Classics - Cross Bikes Singlespeed - Working Bikes Gallery updates now appear here - http://cyclofiend.blogspot.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
