Steven,
 I think you're committing the fallacy of the golden mean. Absolutism has a
place in our society. Let me give you some examples:

I absolutely believe that all adult americans should have the ability to
gain the tax and probate advantages they can get through marriage
regardless of their race, gender, religious beliefs or sexual orientation.

 I believe anyone pushing to withhold those rights from folks in our
society is a bigot and should be shunned.

I absolutely believe that all women should have control over their own
bodies.

I believe anyone advocating for them losing control of their own bodies is
Akin(haha, get it?) to a rapist and should be punished as such.

Those are things I absolutely believe. You let me know when I'm being
irrational, provided you can present logic as such.
