In an effort to stop my Lowsaddle Longflap from swaying while loaded to the
point of seam splits, I inadvertently created a make-do security system
which now takes me a good five minutes to remove, even with a handful of
proper tools in the comfort of my own home.

I replaced the original Carradice buckle which affixes to the seat post
with an old leather toe strap, sandwiched in a spare rubber shim from some
light or other around the post, pulled the toe strap as tightly closed as
hand force allowed, then mashed the toe strap buckle closed on both sides
with a pair of pliers.

I then slowly, arduously rotated the mashed toe strap buckle *behind* the
horizontal mounting point on the back of the saddle bag, which due to the
added thickness didn't want to go in, and certainly doesn't want come back
out. The added grip of the rubber shim underneath the strap makes rotating
it back out all the more unpleasant an operation.

To be fair, my Carradice is decades old, and both nature and neglect have
ensured that it will not be donning any sashes at the next Mr.
International Retrogrouch (see you in Prague 2016!), so if somebody figures
out a way to remove it while I'm buying my beer and baked beans, they want
it more than I do.
