Hi Curtis, 

I live in North County (Carlsbad) and also ride with the SoCal Riv group 
that  Hugh mentioned. I'm most familiar with North County as I've only 
lived here about 18 months. There are  some nice areas to ride north of 
Escondido to Rainbow and the Rancho Santa Fe area.

There a lot more choices for 700C tires,if that is what you are getting, 
depending on you if  ride mostly on pavement or like dirt roads mixed in 
your travels.

Congrats on the Homer, they are beautiful and versatile bikes.
