this is absolutely true - supporting yourself with your core muscles and balancing with your arms - even pulling with your arms - puts everything you have through the pedals. Been discussing these things with my daughter since she is on her first drop-bar bike - and she's going FAST by nature - chased her again yesterday for 15 quick miles. As we get older we lean on the bars and this is a source of cervical strain, and a reason we want to go farther upright as we relax on the bike. So far, moustache is as far upright as I want to go. I'm sure I'll eventually build a bike with an Alba cockpit. Always ride with bent elbows.
