Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I've read about some additional issues in disabling
DEP (some were having trouble re-enabling it...) and the application is for
distribution anyway.

Has there been any talk about rebuilding the dcom server in .NET by any chance?
Doubt I'd be much help, but I'd assist in any way I can. I would assume as well
that things might get easier for the RExcel package if they could build it as a
standard excel add-in... which I think are all now in .NET.

Rebuilding the DCOM-Server itself with newer versions of Visual Studio won't help. But I'm quite sure, it should not be too hard to provide a re-implementation of the ActiveX controls.

The character device is quite easy to do (just try yourself, there is sample code on rcom.univie.ac.at). Graphics Device will be a bit more work but should not be too hard, too.

So far there is not much feedback on the graphics device control, so it has not been improved for some time...
