Yes, that is the most common joystick usage. Also, the left joystick
channels are usually mixed to drive the vehicle easily. Mixing can be
done either (a) by the transmitter (if supported), (b) a dual-motor ESC
(if supported) or (c) with a mixing circuit that sits between the
receiver and two separate ESCs. Search for "v-tail mixing" or simply
"servo mixing" to find such circuits.
