Oops. I got my sites confused. I was looking at both www.altronics.com and
www.allelectronics.com . The motor and gear are both indeed on the
www.allelectronics.com site, as their links show.

Subject: [TANKS] interesting motor solution

Hello -

I was poking around www.altronics.com and came across some interesting
stuff. First, there's a $10 planetary gear the fits many scooter motors

It's very compact. The output connects to a splined shaft, which isn't very
useful for us. You could probably bolt a gear or sprocket to the output
plate and bypass the shaft altogether. The planetary unit provides a 4.5:1
reduction, so you'd still need another modest stage.

They also carry a scooter motor that fits the input of the gear unit.

I still have a pair of M01s begging to be installed in a new tank, so I
doubt I'll try the planetary thing soon. I wanted to bring some attention to
it, though, for those searching for a locomotion solution.
