Neil, You're ambitious, I'll give you that. Now about starting a large scale hobby as you've been describing. It's already been done. Just go to any big enough paintball park and ask about their scenario games. Our local park has tanks, infantry, and artillery (generally hand carried Nerf rocket launchers). If you were to build a ride in tank or wheeled artillery piece I'm sure your local park would jump at the chance to let you use it. You may have to provide a couple of your own referees which shouldn't be to big an issue.
