Polystyrene is a nice material that I've worked with in the past. But personally I have no desire to build artillery, as there is little incentive to do so. I think the Kysosho would make a nice platform either for robotics or for smaller scale tanks that have the same functionality as the tamiya RC tanks, but at maybe 1/4 the cost. If you don't care about model accuracy. I've noticed there are some good bargains on Marui 1:24 tanks ($36) that would fit the Kysosho platform.
