Thanks, Steve :) I haven't decided which type of drive to use,
although I was thinking about doing it like T005 with the rubber strip
friction-drive.

Tango, I considered the water issue but I won't know until I've used a
set of seatbelt tracks how well they'll do over the long term. I
tested a piece of seatbelt webbing with oak treads 1" long (along the
track), 1/4" apart. The belting will still move in undesirable
directions, but not too much, and I expect that it would need tension
maintained to track well on the wheels. As my tanks are not 200#
gas-powered ones, I suspect that your tank will place a lot more
demands on its tracks than mine will. I would go for a hinge track or
attachment chain tracks. I also think that you'd need something wider
than seatbelt material (about 2.75" wide) to provide tracks for a 1/4
scale tank, unless you're doing a Goliath :) I can't wait to see your
beast move when you get it done!
