You *can* MIG weld AL, but you need the proper gas (pure Argon), the 
proper wire feeder and, if you're welding thin pieces, a welder that can 
be set low enough.  By far, most AL welding is done with TIG, but I'm 
sure skilled professionals use MIG as well for production jobs.
