I bought a few of the Vex sets while they were on sale cheap. A 2.4
GHz conversion would indeed be interesting, bit only if it's
relatively simple; otherwise, one might as well pony up the cash for a
Spektrum DX6. Any details on the work in progress?

As for decoding the Vex receiver output, an option I have in mind (and
parts on hand for) is the Atmel AVR microcontrollers; powerful, cheap,
can be programmed in C, have Flash and EEPROM, and Gumstix sells a
"Robostix" board for not too much $$ that has a row of R/C servo
connectors. If anyone is seriously interested, I may be doing
something in this regard with a Robostix this spring. If I get there,
I'll share the code...
