The last time that I bought a gallon of Smooth-On it cost just shy of
$100 (add shipping). Easy to use, I made a bunch of stuff with it.
It is _hard_ but not necessarily durable, and I have no testing info
on how it performs under tension (vice compression, where it does
really well). I do know that some people in the boat hobby have been
adding microfibers to the mix to increase performance under tension.
I'll see if I can get some info from one of them.

if he isn't using a pressure tank but is simply purring resin into the
mold and letting cure out in the open, i would use Task 3 resin. it's a just
slightly thicker to use, but is stronger (less flexible). don't use 321 or
300, 321 will come out a bit flexible and 300 will cure quickly and may be
too brittle for tracks.

i wouldn't think of using the resin for the small parts such as between or
along side of the tracks as being that small, i don't think they'd hold up
(but your always welcomed to try).

don't forget to get some black tint (and only add one drop at time before
shaking to test for color, it's strong stuff).

and just so you know, the larger block sections of the track can be cast
with either rods (to be removed after curing for pins to go through) or rods
with tubing over the rods (to be used as sleeves or a bushing). the sleeve
will work like a bushing and would help keep down on the wearing out of the
resin as the tracks move - but i'd think then you'd have to either keep
them clean or oil them - or not.

if your planing to cast the parts with rods (no sleeves) you should get a
can of ease mann release 2300 (lots of silicone in the spray and will help
the rod from coming out of the casting easier), and maybe a can of ease man
1200 for prepping the molds (will make the parts come out easier and make
the molds hold up longer.)

if you do plan on going the route of casting your parts, feel free to ask
for help (before hand too, so you get all the right stuff), i'll help as
much as i can
