Look at it this way.

If you have ever thought about using wood for your tracks (Alot of
veteren tanks do) Smooth cast 300 would be concidered overkill by a
long way.

For my Tiger I used a resin inner cleat (sc300) and wood outer cleats,
I'm constantly replacing exteriour cleats, to date I have never had to
replace an inner (sc300) cleat.

For My first stug I used all wood tracks, and nearly every single
guide tooth is broken or shows significant wear, the smooth cast drive
sprocket is in near new condition.

I wouldnt have gone for smoothcast 300 if I had simply listened to all
the rumors about resins... After 4 tanks featuring SmoothCast in high
wear, high stress areas, I have to say, its worth every dollar.
