At this scale two motors probably make more sense, but when I came across that original plan it started me wondering about the possibility of using something similar in a tank. I've been following the site and forum for several years, and it seems like many of the operational problems come down to either tracks or electrical speed/ steering issues. This looked like one possibility of addressing the speed/steering issues mechanically, as well as providing another option for the drive system. Maybe, maybe not...
