Seeing that rush hour traffic in the Maryland/Northern VA/DC area was horrible on Fridays at 6PM back in 1998 when I left the DC area, I would avoid I-95/495 like a plague. I used to drive from Falls Church, VA to Odenton, MD at that time and it sometimes could take up to 3 hours to go 35 miles if there was an accident. Average time was two hours. I'm sure the popluation has only increased in the area and made traffic worse. Just my personal opinion.
