I agree Jason, there are risks. But the motors in Weed whackers and
nitro powered cars aren't, as a rule, enclosed in a hull. There in
lies the danger. I don't know about anyone else but MY batteries get
switched out to charge. As for on board fires due to short circuit, if
you don't have a circuit breaker or fuze directly off the leads then
you are asking for trouble. I have both, a 30 amp 20 second auto reset
circuit breaker on each motor and a 40 amp friable fuze on the main
feed to my power bus. Coupled with both auto start (temp controlled)
and constant run fans for hull ventilation.

 I believe it is more about minimizing the risk than excluding gas
powered tanks.

The great thing is, if you want to build a gas powered tank, you can.
You must accept that your decision to do so may exclude you from a
battlefield.
