What the WOT developers realize is that their product is a game and not a history lesson. I think our hobby should also be considered as such. A ratings system based off real world vehicle parameters pretty much makes anything built before mid-WW2 non-competitive. I for one would like to see a more diverse population of vehicles with different speed, defensive, and offensive capabilities. I have several ideas that I think would accomplish this goal and have posted them over the years. They've pretty much fallen on a deaf ear (as only one ear counts in this hobby ;-). With that said, I'm going to develop an alternative rule-set that encompasses my ideas (with input from any interested) and see were it goes from there.
