Steve is this to pump water from your basement? Sorry for the dumb question, in
Australia basements almost don't exist.

Good work, hope everyone did ok.

Subject: [TANKS] Re: Hurricane Sandy

Lost power at 10pm last night, restored this morning.

With no power I had sump issues with it filling up every 30 minutes or so. Had
to jury rig a battery powered sump pump so I could a little sleep. Used a
bilge pump from one of my R/C warships, an 20AH tank battery, a float switch
from a discarded sump pump, some wire and wire nuts. Used a 50' air hose to
route the water to my slop sink. Worked great, the little wiper pump based R/C
bilge pump pumped the sump down in 5 minutes each time. Will be upgrading this
expedient to a more permanent design shortly.

Hope everyone else is OK.

The mega-storm named after my daughter has struck home. Power lost at

power company's horrible track record, we probably won't get power back
until sometime this weekend :-(
