Im going to disagree with Jacob on the thermal issue; in a brushless motor,
the coils are in the stator. As such, they have the additional thermal mass
and area of the case, and correspondingly less thermal resistance from coil
to ambient. Plus if you have more armatures than the two typically found in
a brushed motor, ( 3 or 6, etc etc) the current flowing through a specific
armature would be necessarily less, further reducing ohmic heating...
