Hi,

* Take a look at T064. In the Bulldog I did a proof of concept for using a
pair of 24v 450w gear head motors with a wheelchair controller. There is a
picture of it climbing a gravel pile. It climbed until it lost traction. I
also drove it up a ramp onto the back of my flat deck truck The bulldog
weighted in around 210lbs, of which 80lbs was battery. I like* long
runtime. :-)

* I am now trying to figure out how to replace an induction joystick with
R/C but this is beyond my electronics skills.. ( *HELP!!* ) :-) Although
you *can* drive the joystick with servos as seen in the proof of concept
trials in the Bulldog.

* Wheelchair motors. Gotta love'em. The motors and electronics are made to
move a 200lb wheelchair plus the weight of the disabled individual. This
can approach a quarter of a ton. A 300lb tank is a non-issue. (Until the
batteries go dead and you gotta move it by hand, ask me about it.) Plus the
controller is completely programmable for everything you could desire.
Torque, turn speed, max speed forward, max speed reverse, etc, etc... and
most have multiple drive settings or profiles. The controllers are
programmed for safety, so you can get quite a bit better performance out of
them. All the wiring, breakers et al... all engineered and R&D tested and
very, very robust. Did I mention the built in battery charging circuits?
Looks kinda kool to just plug it into the wall outlet.

* Price. We were buying used chairs for $25. Stripped out the electronics
and I now have 4 complete sets of electronics. Hence the desire to
"replace" a manual joystick.

Cheers,
Fred (Hold my beer and watch this, eh.) Thomson
