We don't shout "bang" or "boom" in this hobby, we paint things to denote a hit. It's not a kid's game :-)

I agree that paintball grenades would be expensive and, perhaps, overkill, but you aren't limited to them as the active device. You can also use a slightly pressurized bladder or a balloon as the active device. For example, fill a small balloon with paint and mount it on a mouse-trap like trigger. Pop the balloon with the trigger and anything that gets splattered with paint is destroyed. It may require some experimentation to determine the right size of balloon and amount of paint, but it's certainly doable.

I'm not sure a paintball grenade would work, Frank. First, they throw a
LOT of paint over a long distance.(up to 30 ft) Not only would that coat
the vehicle being destroyed, but also the operator if he was standing
near his tank.
Second, they're fairly expensive. ($6.00-$9.00 a pop) A full day of
battling would be fairly expensive.
Couldn't you do something simpler like when the driver want to detonate
his mine, he yells "Detonating", and any vehicle within two paces is
considered destroyed? Or something along those lines.
