too bad that motor unit wasn't smaller as it looks like it would a great
shoe-in for a gun elevation motor

as to the plastic gear, i'm going to guess that's there as some sort as
buffer in case things got jammed up somewhere - do they offer replacement
gears for it?

The motors came on Monday. I'm pretty pleased with them. They are very
easy to tear apart in case they need cleaning.
One of the things that concerns me though, is that the main reduction gear
is plastic (nylon?). I hope it will take the torque. :) The main
difficulty with these motors is the shaft.
It's threaded, and I am a little stumped on how to mount the drive
sprocket securely to it. I would appreciate any ideas/suggestions. :)
Here's a link to the motor.

Motors and front wheels were ordered from Surplus Center; should arrive on
Monday.
If work progresses quick enough, this might be seen on the battlefield
this year. :)

have just received this report from our chief spy C**** S**** after sending
him on
                                                                 a mission
to investigate some strange sawing noises coming from the S.C.C's
headquarters.

General Goopinstopen,

Upon reaching the designated investigation point, I immediately found two
guards in front of the gate. I figured that this could be troublesome to
me, but fortunately, they asked me if I was the chief inspector. Thinking
this would be an easy way inside, I answered affirmatively. After making my
way into the building, I saw Joshua S**** bending over a scroll saw
cutting a very large piece of wood. Trying not to bring too much attention to

myself, I just stayed in the doorway and proceeded to watch with
fascination. After he completed, he turned around and saw me.

"Ahh, inspector, I've been waiting for you to arrive."

"Oh, sorry for being late, now what is it that you wanted me for?"

"Well you see, after the last battle I decided that I needed to be able
to move around the battlefield. My lack of mobility caused me to miss
some very good shots."

   "Ahh I see!" I replied.

"So, I decided to build a vehicle so I can maneuver around the
battlefield."

In an effort to complete my mission, I asked him what vehicle he had
decided to build.

"The vehicle that I have selected to lead our forces into battle is one
that has not been built yet. It will have the mobility of a tank, but the
speed of a truck."

"Ok, I understand that, but what ARE you building?"

"This most wonderful and stupendous vehicle will be a M3 Halftrack!"

After that, he showed me the piece of wood he had been cutting when I came
in. I then could see the resemblance.
He then went on about what different components he was going to use, etc.
When he wasn't looking, I snapped this photo of the vehicle for you.

I hope that this vehicle will not be as bad as he says, Sir, but we should
definitely keep a close eye on that building.

Your humble servant,
C**** S****
