Thank you both, Frank and Steve, you have been most helpful. :)  The nut 
shown in the picture did come with the motor. 
What is your opinion on a sort of composite approach to your ideas?  After 
welding the sprocket to the nut, mount clamping collars on either side to 
prevent it from moving.
