My recent experience with SMA was $150 for the warranty change out of one of
their string inverters. It was a significant hassle and took months to receive
a check. You have to know that they offer the $150, If you don't ask, they
won't offer it. Whereas Fronius almost insists they pay you $250 for a
warranty change out, easy and prompt. SMA used to ship from Rocklin, CA, now
you have to wait for it to come from Colorado.

        Anybody know Magnum's policy?

  Hi John,

I've never had a problem with a grid-tied inverter products here in the
states, getting some compensation for warranty work. As far as off-grid, I
think only SMA will compensate you for warranty work here. I think
$250/inverter is typical for string inverters, and I'm not sure with
microinverters. The compensation is not really enough to cover the time, but
at least its something.

  Good Luck
