Hi Chris, I think this would be a product mainly used in existing grid-tied retrofits. If there is an existing grid-tied only inverter, you could route the DC conductors through this transfer switch first giving the homeowner a grid-tied or off-grid option if the grid was down. You'd still need another battery based inverter with an AC transfer switch, critical load panel etc.
